They always say ...
You have to find "your why"
And your "why" doesn't make you cry...
It's not your "why"
I always thought that was kinda cheesy as I was highly motivated and successful from day one so I just couldn't understand the people who didn't take action and all this "why" talk until not very long ago when I realized...
My lack of motivation the last few years was because I HAD LOST MY WHY.
In 1999 when I found network marketing my family was deep in debt and I was bound and determined to find a solution.
My family was everything to me and I was NOT going to let them down.
We were in debt because I insisted on being home with the girls but kept spending like I did when I had a great job.
Little by little the credit cards maxed and I had to fix what I had created.
So I started selling diet pills and took every dime I made and paid down the debt until it was gone.
My family was MY WHY.
My husband and my little girls were my EVERYTHING.
Fast forward 20 plus years..
Rough divorce ....No husband to retire and travel the world with.
Kids...25 and 28...
Both living in New York City and working at a MAJOR corporation that starts with G that you do your searching on every day.
Self sufficient in every way...
Good incomes...Good lives.
They are grown.
No back to school clothes to pay for....
No shoes...
No flute lessons.
College paid cash.
They are WOMEN.
So what do you do when your whole motivation ups and moves away on you.
What do you do when your desire to "work like crazy" has left because you have residual income and nothing that you MUST do and no where that you MUST be?
Well....
You find out what it's like for the people who we all told to FIND YOUR WHY.
You find that you stare at the computer scree and go BLANK.
No words...
Nothing to say.
Haven't I said it all over the last 22 years?
Is there more?
And then you sit down and PRAY.
And you wait.
And you wait.
And you wait
UNTIL a message washes over you.
Until something SPEAKS to you.
Until you remember that there are people that need your (my) voice right now.
I know after many, many years understand what "Find Your Why" means.
And why it is so hard to take action when that WHY isn't present.
So if you have not made the progress you had hoped for...
I get it.
And the one thing that I have learned is that beating yourself up does nto make the situation better.
If anything it makes it work.
Me...
I seek INSPIRATION when I am stuck.
Through music, through movies, through art...
Through SILENCE.
Because if you get quiet for long enough you are BOUND to HEAR something that will guide you. to the people, places, and things that will catapult you forward.
Oh...and hint...
Your WHY is NEVER money.
Sure...I needed money back in the day...
But the reason I build what I built was out of LOVE.
And a deep desire to repair something for my family.
Money solves your problems but it is NEVER the drive.
If it were, everyone would be out there getting rich.
Wouldn't they?
Soon I'll reveal what I have discovered for myself.
But in the meantime...
LOVE YOURSELF
And ask the ethers
Why have you put a desire in me to have a business and not yet given me DIRECTION?
And then LISTEN
See what rises up.
And if I can help at all....
Let me know.
<3
I can teach you marketing moves all day long but I can't give you THE SPARK.
Just like no one could give it to me.
It emerges when you are ready.
And when you are ready...
LOOK OUT BABY...
No one can do it like YOU!
Night,
Diane
