I asked for strawberry blonde...
I showed her numerous pictures and even brought her a hair
piece
that I had picked up that was the PERFECT SHADE.
The hair dresser was concerned if she used red my hair would turn orange
so she wanted to be sure we'd get a good result.
She did two test patched=s and then after inspecting the result she
went
back and mixed up the color.
I sat and asked myself...
Are you ready for a CHANGE?
And my heart said YES....so I sat back and let her brush what seemed
to be an orangey color onto my hair.
Then it was cook time...
I had to sit 30 minutes all the time I thought about how cool it
would be to have a new look.
In all of my 51 years I have never
really done anything different except
for one time where I cut all my hair off out of self hatred which is a story for
another day (and in fact is a bit part of how I ended up in the industry)
So then we rinsed....and I went with my towel wrapped head back to the
chair and BOOM...
My hair was DARK!
LIke really
dark.
So different I barely recognized myself.
And I could tell the hair dresser was nervous.
But instead of being upset...
I SMILED.
I had just been given a change to have a completely different
experience in the world.
And as they say...it's hair....
It can be changed!
So I decided to embrace it.
And thus I am now Diane....The Brunette!
And since I am looking so
different i can only ask myself...
What else can I do different?
So this weekend I am going to a workshop in the woods as upstate NY.
Pretty deep personal development stuff.
And I have to tell you...
I am nervous.
Just like I was when I sat down in the hair stylists chair.
But what I do know is that CHANGE IS GOOD.
And I am ready for it!
